Miley Cyrus will begin filming “The Last Song” written by Nicolas Sparks on Tybee Island, Savannah, Georgia.
The film was originally set to be in what would appear as Wrightsville Beach, N.C. The location managers realized that it would be impossible to hide Tybee Island as the setting.
Sandra Bullock has called Tybee home for a number of years so chances are the residents will be pretty chill with Miley and or Hannah Montana hanging around for a few months.
The Local officials estimate the production will bring $8 million in direct spending to the area during the next two months. Not bad for a small quite town of only 3,400 residents.
The movie stars Miley as a teenager dealing with her parents’ divorce and who tries to reconnect with her father during a summer at his home in a quiet beach town.
Filming starts this coming Monday on Tybee Island, 12 miles east of Savannah, and is expected to go until mid-August.
The movie will be produced by Disney-based Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot with Tish Cyrus serving as executive producer. Offspring Entertainment has 19 films slated for production through 2012.
